Aflac Ducks Bring Smiles and Laughs to Local Kids

Kids on the cancer floor at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital had a new companion delivered.  Jeff Werner, Market Director for Aflac brought a shipment of ‘My Special Aflac Duck™’ to patients. Dahlia named hers “Duck Beauty”, while Hannah wanted to take her time to pick a name.

Hannah’s dad, Jeff Wagaman shared how she has a hard time telling others what she’s feeling. Jeff’s hope is My Special Aflac Duck™ will be able to help Hannah let those around know how she’s feeling as well as help pick up her spirits. As soon as Hannah received her duck, a smile lit up her face for the first time that day.

My Special Aflac Duck™ is a “smart” robotic companion for children who have cancer. For 22 years, Aflac, its employees and independent sales agents have had a commitment to help families facing childhood cancer.  Aflec members have contributed more than $122 million to this cause.  Aflac’s goal is to put a My Special Aflac Duck™ in the hands of 16,000 children in the U.S. who are newly diagnosed with cancer each year.  The ducks are given free of charge, so that no child ever has to face cancer alone.
