GameStop Gives
GameStop stores in the Grand Rapids area are asking customers to round up their change to support GameStop Gives charity partners including Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH)!
The COVID-19 pandemic has placed unprecedented stress on HDVCH, and now more than ever, we need support. By partnering with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, GameStop is helping transform how we meet these urgent needs brought on by the pandemic. Kids can’t wait for a cure. Kids need our help, now.
Thank you, GameStop, for making a tremendous difference in the lives of kids like Calvin, Age 5.
The first hint that something was wrong came when Calvin was three months old, and his doctor detected an irregular heartbeat. His mom, Holly, rushed him to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, where the care team tried to regain a normal heart rhythm to no avail. Eventually, his heart stopped beating entirely for a terrifying six minutes. Doctors brought him back using ECMO, a heart and lung bypass machine.
A few uncertain weeks followed, but Calvin finally made it home, diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia, Ebstein’s Anomaly, and a hole in his heart.
In 2019, surgeons repaired his heart through open-heart surgery. Although it was an incredibly difficult surgery, it meant Calvin could avoid going on the transplant list. Today he is monitored closely by cardiologists, but you wouldn’t know a thing about his complicated medical history if you met him. Calvin likes to wow strangers with his speed, asking them, “Do you want to see how fast I can go?” then running around as fast as he can!
Since 2018, GameStop has provided over $8,000 in support for Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital through point of sale campaigns, product donations, Extra Life and more.
